Chart notes
Pin launches, campaigns and changes to a date on the Overview chart.
Pin a note to a date on the Overview chart, like a launch, a newsletter or a pricing change, so a spike or a drop has its reason next to it.
- Open Overview for your website.
- Click a day on the Traffic & Attributed Revenue Timeline chart.
- Type a short title, add details if you like, check the date and time, and press Add note.
The note shows as a chip in the Notes row under the chart's dates, and its title and details show in the chart tooltip. A day with several notes shows their count. Click a note chip to edit it. On the hourly view a note sits on its hour, and on the weekly view on the week it falls in. Dates and times are in your website's timezone.
To change or delete a note, click its day again and use the pencil or bin next to it. You can also move a note to another date.
Owners and admins can add, edit and delete notes. Viewers on your team see them but can't change them. Notes stay private: they don't show on a shared public dashboard or in widgets.
Spikes and mentions on the chart
Under the dates, the chart also shows what happened on each day, one row per kind:
- Spikes: days with well over the usual traffic (about twice the days before, and at least 20 extra visitors). Calmstats names the source that brought most of the extra visitors, like 6× x.com, and the band on the chart shows how long it lasted.
- Mentions: posts about your site on Hacker News, Reddit and Bluesky (Growth plan). Click one to open the post.
- Notes: your own notes, as above.
Hover any day, or any chip, for the day's story: new and returning visitors, revenue from new sales and renewals, where visitors came from, and the spike, mentions and notes behind it. Where visitors came from shows the top three sources plus Other, out of that day's visitors: each visitor counts once, under the source of their first visit that day, and the shares add up to 100%. A source keeps the same colour on every day. Revenue bars split the same way: new sales in green, renewals in a softer shade on top. Stripe (with Invoices read on the key), Polar and Whop say which payments are renewals; for other payments, a customer who paid before counts as a renewal.
